The Foster Angels of Hillsborough County is a non-profit 501c (3) organization comprised of a small group of volunteers with huge hearts, including foster parents and caring community members. Since 1988, Foster Angels has served children in foster care throughout Hillsborough County with the Foster Angel Tree program and generous community support. As a result, the thousands of children who have been subjected to abuse, neglect and abandonment, and through no fault of their own – placed in foster care, have not had to worry if Santa would find them or if they were going to find something special waiting for them under the tree. Currently there are approximately 1,000 of these children living in licensed foster homes, while approximately another 1,500 are residing with caring relative and non-relatives, or remain at home with their parent(s).
Each of the 2,500 children in care will be represented with an Angel tag, detailing their Christmas wishes and placed on a Christmas tree. Foster Angels can provide you with a tree or the Angel tags if you already plan to display a tree. Each gift is carefully tracked and distributed in partnership with Hillsborough Kids to ensure accountability, so that every child receives their gifts.
Corporations and businesses can participate in the Foster Angel program in a variety of ways:
- Hosting a Foster Angel Tree containing tags printed with a child's wish list. Employees and customers select tags and purchase gifts on the list.
- Requesting tags only for distribution to employees who wish to purchase gifts on the child's list.
- Donation of Gift Cards.
- Monetary Donations.
- General Toy Donations.
